„Wake Wood” este o coproductie irlandezo-britanica despre care am auzit destul de des in ultima perioada. Am avut cateva experiente in materie de horror britanic si pot spune ca am gasit cateva filme care m-au incantat ( „Severance” sau „Eden Lake”, de exemplu).
Wake Wood nu iese in evidenta decat printro- evolutie oscilatorie a tensiunii. Incepe agresiv, continua molcom, capata apoi nuante dark, oferind destul sentiment lugubru pentru a putea fi considerat un film demn de a fi vazut pana la capat si se termina destul de previzibil, insa ingenios.
Filmul ofera o reinterpretare a temei facute celebre de Stephen King in „Pet Cemetery”, localizand actiunea intr-un orasel linistit din Irlanda, unde, in spatele aparentei acalmii citadine se ascunde un mister care, devoalat, aduce in discutie un taboo vechi de cand lumea …
Nu este un film extraordinar, IMDB cotandu-l slab, insa are cateva momente de calitate (zgomotele ambientale isi fac cu brio datoria) iar intriga este destul de legata, reusind sa induca anumite intrebari de tipul „what if” … Rotten Tomatoes ii acorda o surprinzatoare nota de 6,9 (89% freshness).
Un film pentru fanii horror-ului inteligent dar deloc spectaculos. Nici macar un film bun, doar acceptabil.

now, about Ireland… I hope to see the Cliffs of Moher, sometime in the future … I is a legendary scenery for me … 🙂
Ah the cliffs ..been there many times and walked the whole length and almost fell 2 times..its so high and barren and the atlantic wind is very dangerous..at that time it was not allowed to walk there and now is strong security ..too many accidents and suicides. But it is so magical to bethere and then after warm your self in a localpub by the fire and a cold guinness 🙂

its hard to find a decent Guinness in Romania !
Good guinness is hard to find anyway…it depends wheremit was brewed and how they have it hooked up ,the draw..the flow from barrel must be short. in finland was hard to find good guinness too, so i stuck with smithwicks and bulmers cider 🙂
